Sea of daffodils

5 1/2 years ago when we moved to this town,
we inherited two garden islands filled with bountiful flowers.
The daffodils are the first to bloom and
Every year I look forward to the sea of yellow.

I have never considered myself to be a green thumb.
I had always thought that was my husbands talent.
But I have grown to appreciate and learn how to garden.

This is just the beginning of fresh cut flowers in my home.
That makes me happy.

March Madness

Just in case you are wondering who I am cheering for during the NCAA tournament.

Every year I place KU in the finals. Last year they finally won the championship.
Absolutely incredible!
This year with our young inconsistent team, I'm not as hopeful.

But there is a reason why they call it March Madness.

Anything can happen. GO Jayhawks!!!

My new favorite

Move over Candyland, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and Hi Ho Cherry O.
I have found my new favorite game for my 5 year old.
Seriously, this is a game that adults can enjoy.
I have spent hours with my son on a cold Saturday afternoon playing this game
without realizing the time.

All you need is basic math skills, some strategy and 5 minutes of your time.
It's quick, challenging and fun.
My son has strengthened his counting and adding skills.
He can now count by fours and understands the concept of remainders.
Can I say a teacher's delight.
Beware....
Once your 5 year old catches on.
He will beat you.
Son: "Mom, I'm unbeatable when I'm first."
or even better...
Son: "Mom, I beat you pretty bad, I'll let you go first this time."
Oh how gracious.
Icing on the cake......
It's only 5 bucks at your nearest Walmart/Target.
I'm not even their sponsor.

Spring has sprung!

Signs of spring.

Such a stark contrast from last weekend where God blessed us with a blanket of snow.

Spring always gives me feelings of renewal and reflection.
Especially around Easter.
A remembrance of a gracious Saviour,
who saved a wretched soul like me.
It's also a time of hopeful expectation and playful fun.
My children laughing outside.
Playing with bubbles and sidewalk chalk.
Flying kites.
Riding bikes.
Taking long walks around the park holding my daughter's hand.
Days with more sunlight.
Short sleeve shirts and sandals.
Brightly colored toes of pink and red.
The smell of spring rain.
The beauty of the spring green leaves
and daffodils and tulips.
Bare feet on freshly grown grass.
Yes, spring is here.
On the side...This morning I woke up to my son at 6:45 am fully dressed asking if he could practice roller skating. He just found out that his class is taking a field trip to a roller skating rink in a few weeks. He wants to make sure he is able to roller skate well before he goes on the field trip. That boy takes so much after me..... oh my! He was rollerskating soon afterward in the backyard on our patio.
Second side... My daughter no longer has her splint. Can I hear a "yeah hooo!"

Obsession with old barns

I drive by these old beauts all the time.
Been wanting to take some pics of them for quite a while.
Better late than never.

They are so charming.
The stories......if only they could talk.

The snow didn't melt

So we had to go sledding......

I see a smidge of a thrill seeker in my son.
