Multigenerational sneak peek

"Family means putting your arms around each other and being there."
I was blessed to photograph this family.
It was such a pleasure and so much fun.
I loved watching the interactions between family members.

The challenge with large family photos is having everyone posed with a smile and eyes open at the same time. I had to do quite a few face swapping on photoshop. LOL.

My favorite part of the shoot was when this sweet doll was cracking me up behind my lens.

I so wanted to take some shots of just her and her personality!

Thanks so much "R" Family. - Jen

Let the children come to me.

"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints." Ephesians 1: 18

I'm elated. My 6 year old asked Jesus into his heart today.
He keeps asking, "Is Jesus still in my heart?"
Why yes, He will never leave you or forsake you.

Sneak Peek

The other evening I had the priviledge of photographing this wonderful family.
But boy was it HOT!
As I was driving my van over to the family's home I noticed 101 degree temperature.
And that was at 6:30 pm.
Yowsers!
They were troopers and withstood the heat.
Here is the couple that started it all.

Aren't they cute?

Posed shots are nice.
But I have to say my favorites pics are the ones
where the family is just being themselves,
showing off who they are.
It truly is all about...
THE RELATIONSHIP.

Thanks so much. Your family is truly beautiful inside and out! - Jen

A moment captured

Sometimes
my most favorite
picture
is the one
where no one
is looking at
the camera.

Playing the role.....

of mother of FIVE.
My sister went on her much awaited honeymoon - ten years late.
So we had the joy of taking care of her kids while they were away.
I've tried to keep them busy, but not too overly tired.
Water wars, community swimming pool, bowling, bbq's at friends, fireworks,
harvesting green beans, snow peas and blueberries, making numerous fruit salads,
puppet shows, dress up and dance performances.
Just to name a few.
Meet my additional children for the week.
Here's "K."
She's sweet, determined, and a bit of a mother hen.
Then there's "E."
She's a little on the ornery side, but a great helper and wonderful friend.
Finally there's "M."

He's the definition of an introvert, but is silly and oh so fun!

In case you're wondering where my girl is.

She was taking some much needed zzzz's.
Friday, I will be back to being a mother of 2.

The Challenge

In March I ran across this blog post.
It convicted me. I have tons of pictures of my kids, but very few with my kids and ME.

Then I noticed a friend of mine posting wonderful pictures of herself with her kids on facebook. I even commented how great it was that she is in the pictures with her kids and confessed that I needed to do the same. Her response "So funny you mentioned that.....I was thinking Jen needs to hand the camera over for a few hours. "

Well then another blog friend posted another link talking about stepping away from the camera and stepping in front of it. Can I say CONVICTION? Well there seems to be a common theme here. So this talented blog friend challenged me to go in front of the camera.

So here goes....

I just realized that all these pics are a side profile of me. LOL It's a start.

Birthday boy

My boy is now 6!
We celebrated his big day bowling.

If you live near University of Kansas,
I would totally recommend having a bowling party at the Jaybowl.
For a little over $55, 7 kiddos bowled a round, had bowling shoes provided,
received a 10 oz drink and party bag filled with goodies,
and we celebrated in the party room.

So much fun!

Here's the crew!

Hope you enjoyed your special day! - mom
