1st days of school

My girl is one year closer to going to the big school.
But for now PreK is caller her and I will enjoy that.



She actually started her first day, a day before her brother.



Which provided an opportunity to have one on one time with my big guy before his first day of school. A second grader.....





My boys biggest concern this morning was that his teacher had given him the wrong seating.
"I'm totally girl trapped!" he exclaimed this morning while getting ready for school. Two evenings ago, we attended the 'Meet Your Teacher Night' where my boy discovered he was sitting in between two girls. I guess being girl trapped is not a great thing for a second grade boy.

New smile

My boy has been wanting to lose his teeth what seems like forever.
Last summer he had three somewhat loose teeth.
But nothing came of it until this weekend.






First lost tooth.
Another milestone accomplished.

Bodily Noises

Boys are a different breed of species.
Being raised with sisters, I have learned by trial and error of raising my boy.
One of my boy's interests as of late is
Bodily noises.
Under arm pit noises, under the knee noises.
In fact when the fascination hit, it was nonstop.
My son would wake up making the noises and giggle with glee doing the noises as I tucked him into bed at night.
This week during a shopping spree, my boy decided to buy this with his allowance:



Of course my daughter had to have some as well.
Well you can guess that my house has not stopped with the bodily noises.

But I do have a confession. Last night I was chuckling with fascination as my husband and myself played with this FLaRp.

July Birthdays

Look who turned 1 this week:

She wasn't the only one in her family that had a birthday.

Her sister did too.

She turned the big "3" earlier this month.

Side note on the cake pic. You never know what a one year old will do with cake. This sweet one year old wasn't interested even after a taste. Her mom put cheerios on top of the cake to see if she would dig into the cake. She did alright, very carefully to just get the cheerios. Ha, I still think we got a pretty cute shot!

Our Colorado Retreat

This is our third year at the Baker's Cabin.
I love Estes Park, the mountains, the views.

One thing I love about this cabin is how it easily entertains our crew:



Those boulders are the cabin's backyard. The kids will play for hours "climbing the mountain," and "exploring secret hideouts."

Just in life, our trip seemed to have many obstacles. Besides the one mentioned in another post,
we had a vehicle in the shop for a few days since it sputtered up to the mountain cabin, a camera was lost (but then found), and then my daughter and I got lost while hiking (but found).
The above and below pics were taken before we got lost.
These little mishaps just add to the story of our life and our vacation.

College Roomie

When one of my roommates from college contacted me for family pics, I was elated.
I hadn't seen her in over a decade. Wowser.
It was nice seeing her as a mom.

She's got some great kids.





And pretty cute, might I add.
