My girl in my wedding dress.

I have been wanting to do this for awhile; taking pictures of my girl in my wedding dress.
The only problem was I had misplaced the dress, or so I thought. On our anniversary, my husband and I decided to do some home renovation. Perfect thing to do for a 17th anniversary ;) In the process of cleaning out our closet to place wood flooring down, I discovered my wedding dress along with a lot of sentimental items.  It had been there since we moved into our home almost 9 years ago.  Who knew?

Since then, I have been venturing out trying to find the perfect place to take pictures of my daughter in my wedding dress.  I wanted to find a field of wild flowers, preferably the purple flowers that I see all over the place right beside the highways.    I even asked my FB friends to look for this perfect location.  Unfortunately I never found the flowers in a safe location for me to take picture.

But I found a place that danced with white and yellow.  It became my perfect spot.

I think it turned out to be a beautiful combination.

My kids got baptized.

I will have to say I was hoping my children would get baptized when they were older, when they completely understood its meaning, when I knew for sure it was their faith and not mine.  I wanted them to own their faith, stand firm in their faith and not waiver.  But then I remembered theses verses.

36 "He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”  Mark 9:36-37.

And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."  Mathew 18:9

13"Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.  14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”   Mathew 19:13-14

Two Sunday's ago when my daughter wrote out an agenda for the following Sunday, I knew it was time for her to get baptized.   She was excited and ready to tell the world.  My son knew it was his time, too.

My husband had the honor of doing the baptism.  On FB he wrote,
Today I had the privilege of baptizing both of my children. What a joy and honor to be the one helping my children display their obedience to their heavenly father in front of our church and families.

So my prayer for my children is
that they would earnestly seek God all their days.
that they would  grow in depth and strength of character.
that God would give them immeasurable amount of discernment during life's challenges.
that they would be tender, loving and compassionate to others even if they do not receive it in return.
that they would determine their value by Christ's sacrifice in their life.
that they would draw their joy from God's overwhelming love for them.
that God would have a firm grip on them always and they would never want to be let go.
that they would aspire to be what God wants them to be.
that they would stand as tall as the mercy that rescues and heals them.
that they would be grace with skin on in their small circle of the world.
that they live for the delight of a King who frames all time.  - Amen

Ten on Tuesday

1. Happy Valentine's Day.

2. My girl has been busy working on Valentine's for everyone this past week. She is a crafter just like her momma. I think she will surpass me in the craftiness when she gets older.

3. My girl wanted to make sure Dad and I would get Valentine's as well so she made a valentine's box for each of us and made 5-7 valentine's each and placed them in the box. I love her giving heart.

4. I had fun making my daughter's photo valentine's this year. Here it is:

One side is the front and the other is the back.

5. My husband gifted me with tulips this weekend. I LOVE tulips. Red's my favorite.

6. I'm really bad at sending gifts in the mail to my nieces and nephews for their birthdays. None of them live close. So the past few years I've mailed Valentine boxes filled with Valentine goodies. It's so fun.   The tradition will continue!

7. For my kids, I finally got around to creating a photo album that is up to date of pictures. It is two years worth of photos. This was their valentine's gift from me.

8. I'm loving Pinterest and trying to replicate with my own spin some of the ideas. I tried making a wooden picture from Pinterest.  Here is the youtube video.    I first attempted with an ink jet printer which bled the picture like crazy.  My second attempt was better, but I'm not feeling it.

9.  Is it okay to toss a craft creation?  I think I may.

10.  I'm off to get ready for a lunch date with my hubby.  Later.

Ten on Tuesday

1.  I've been having fun making valentines for my daughter.  Here's a sneak peek:

2.  Glitter, lots of glitter, inside the house.  Yeah, I'm still cleaning that up.  But it is going to be worth it.

3.  Unfortunately, my son is against making a personalized photo valentine.  I did it last year.  He wasn't too happy about it.
It was very cute.  But I get it.  We are going to do a Pinterest super hero valentine remake for his valentines this year.

4.  Pinterest is addictive.

5.  In case you are wondering this was my daughter's valentines last year.

6.  I volunteered at my kids' school today.  It is amazing the different strengths and abilities there are in a class.

7.  Have you ever had lunch with a whole group of kindergartners.   It's a scream.  Between boys saying that they were girl trapped and some singing "who let the dog out,"  I was quite entertained.

8.  I've been motivated to continue curling my hair.  When someone states that I look 10 years younger, that is motivation!

9.  This has been the BEST Kansas winter EVER!  No seasonal effective disorder coming my way soon.  I'm loving it.  Plus with weekly trips to the indoor pool, I'm pretending it is summer.

10.  I just took pictures of the cutest little 1 month old.  I can't wait to down load the pics.

Pinterest remake

Pinterest remake and a mini photo shoot with my daughter.

I've finally after months of stalking Pinterest, I took the plunge and started pinning fun ideas I wanted to try. Here's a felt flower scarf that I made for me and my daughter.

If you are interested in making a scarf, here is the tutorial from Watch me Daddy.
