Ten on Tuesday

1. Woo hoo. It's winter break! To start if off, my kids and I went to "Play, Bounce, Jump" right after school today. We then met the hubby for dinner. No cooking for me. Woo hoo!

2. Today a) I had my last home visit for Parents As Teachers for 2010.
b) mailed our Christmas cards/letters out. Family and friends, be on the look out.
c. finished my Christmas shopping.
d. All of the above

3. This past week seems like it has been many weeks combined. Especially since my daughter had her birthday party last Friday evening. It seems like weeks ago since I made her cake.

4. Every year the cake gets simpler. For the record the roses were store bought.

5. My girl had a pajama party. Her friends danced, ate popcorn, and watched a movie.

6. I confess, a pillow fight did erupt.

7. The best part about the party was that the kiddos left our home around 9:00 pm.
Actually this was one of the easiest parties I have done for my kids.

8. The night before this birthday bash, my girl made her first stage debut in her preschool Christmas program. All the kids did an excellent job. I'm really impressed with the teachers and this school!

9. If you are a facebook friend of mine you may have read my blog post last week. I had posted that a young girl half my age with purple streaks in her hair complimented my boots. She went on to ask where I had purchased the boots. In a brief moment I thought, 'Am I too old to wear these boots?' I of course said no, but many asked to see the boots. So here they are.....

10. I am so looking forward to reflecting on Christ's birth and spending time with family. I love the end of what my husband wrote on our Christmas letter. "We pray that you would be able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the holiday and get"wrapped" up in the ultimate gift that was given. " That is my prayer for you!

Baby love

The newness of a babe, the flaky skin on her feet, the clenched hands, the grunts.
It only lasts about a month and its over.
Ahhhh......
the sweetness.

This sweet babe's mom hinted about seeing a preview soon.
The anticipation kills her.
Lucky for her I had time today,
to show off their new angelic one.

Big brother was so sweet with her.

Got your baby fix. I sure did!
Thanks "T" family. It's always a pleasure taking pictures of your family!

Senior

This young man's mom is dear to my heart.
She worked with me for quite a few years.
She knows how to raise her children well.

Her third child is graduating from high school this spring.
He wants to study sign language and
hopes to go into the ministry working with children in Africa.

May God keep you firmly planted in His steps.
May you seek Him in all that you do.
God bless. - Jen

A boy meets a girl

I love stories about how people meet.
This fun couple met on a basketball court.

She was a college senior basketball player. He was a ref.
I guess she didn't like the call he made against her.
And made this VERY known.
So known that her mom apologized to him later at a social that night.
This guy won the mom over and turns out the mom convinced her basketball daughter
to get acquainted with the "bad call" ref.
They end up marrying about 5 months later.
Go forward about 30 years.......

They have two beautiful daughters and a gorgeous grandbaby.

Look at the proud aunt.

You can tell there is a lot of fun and laughter with this family.

Thanks so much. It was so fun and such a pleasure getting to know your family!

Ten on Tuesday

1. I love it when I come home from a busy day smelling BBQ as I enter my home. I completely forgot that I had placed the BBQ in the crockpot this morning.

2. This past week my family participated in 2 gingerbread house making activities with friends.
Here is my graham cracker creation as well as my daughters:

3. My husbands, "Christmas Vacation" inspired RV with sewer gingerbread house got eaten by our dog. I truly thought it was safe on the table. I also thought the appearance of the sewer would detract anybody. I guess not my dog.

4. I'm in a cooking rut. Not a rut in which you are stuck and need recipe ideas, but a rut where you have no desire what so ever to cook. Probably the reason for #1.

5. My son who has been losing teeth went from looking like this...

to this.

all because of this.

6. My boy had grabbed his stocking and the stocking holder fell on his face taking out his dangling tooth with it. His dangling tooth had been stuck in his mouth for weeks. I was even a bit concerned since it had completely moved in a different position within his mouth. If you take another look you can see the permanent tooth already has made its appearance.

7. I think it is perfectly appropriate that my son is practicing "All I want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth" for piano class.

8. My husband just texted me and asked "Where is ten on Tuesday?" He is the second person who has made that request. A wanted post?

9. I don't know why I seem to manage to go to the cashier at Wal-mart that takes the absolute longest. Today I was debating between two cashiers who both had only one person whom they were checking out. I once again chose wrong. I immediately started putting food on the conveyor belt. By the time I was finished, the other cashier had checked out 5 other people. I kid you not. Not that I was counting.

10. Why is it that everything seems to fall on the same day. I wish at times there were two of me. My girl has a Christmas program next Thursday evening. My husband on the same night is being recognized as a finalist for "Clinical Instructor of the Year" award. We have made our decision, but what would you do?

Picture choice

I've been working on my own Christmas cards and been reviewing some pictures of my girl.
I am wanting to order a large picture of my girl since I haven't done that in over 1 1/2 years. Can you believe that? Anyway I am having a hard time narrowing which picture I want. (I will be putting all the pictures in an album). Do you mind helping me decide? I would love some feedback. My girl has so many expressions it is too hard to choose.

BTW- my boy was easy to decide. He had only two expressions, his cute adorable grin or his "when is this going to be over" look.
